What is our economic plan?
- Working on diversify the local tax base. Our city needs a more diverse local tax base. Our residential property taxes are high and this ultimately can make the city less affordable and create challenges sustaining the quality of life expected by residents. Working towards a more diverse local tax base can help balance our financial needs, make the city more affordable and provide sustainable resources to enhance public services.
- Working on economic equity for all. Over the past year we have heard loud and clear that our residents want to address ethnic and other disparities in our community. Making strides towards economic equity can be the start of our economic development strategy. By doing so we can take action to bring more affordable housing unit, improve access to education and other vital resources and create an increase of high-wage paying jobs for young people with a variety of skill sets. Lynn is in a unique position with our diverse community. Economic equity can help ensure that everyone can take part in economic progress.
- Working on sustaining the character and culture of Lynn. Lynn has a rich character and culture that keeps the community vibrant. It is critical that efforts to listen to the needs and wants of our diverse community is ongoing and addressed. Building trust between government and community is necessary and must be ongoing.
